Pruning - Careful removal of branches to correct or improve the shape of the tree. Also, to cut out dead or diseased wood to free the subject pest or disease-ridden material.
Crown Reduction - The ends of all branches are reduced in length to reduce the overall size and volume of the species. This procedure is usually stipulated as a percentage (rarely more than 30%).
Crown Thinning - Branches are removed from within the tree crown to make the crown less dense to allow light to filter through, and to reduce the surface area of the tree to minimise wind resistance. This procedure is usually stipulated as a percentage (rarely more than 30%).
Crown Lifting - To increase the gap between the ground and the crown of the tree. Usually carried out to allow sufficient headroom for vehicles or pedestrians.
Felling- to make a tree fall under control using a series of cuts.
Sectional Removal - dismantling a tree from the top down in small sections. This operation is usually carried when there is insufficient room to fell a tree or there are hazards nearby. Heavy duty rigging equipment is used to lower parts of the tree to the ground.
Stump Removal - the stump is either 'dug-out' by hand, or, by using a stump grinder machine which can grind any size stump down to about 150mm below ground level.
Hedges - hedges can be lowered, shaped and trimmed. We also carry out 'hedge laying' which forms a livestock proof barrier and encourages new growth in the hedge. This way of hedge management is much kinder to the trees and wildlife than flail hedge cutters.
Tree Planting - planting a tree is an effective way to enhance your landscape and also helps the environment. A tree will not only offset carbon emissions but will create habitats for birds, insects and mammals.
